PH60 Instruction Manual (PH60-v5.6.pdf, 974 Kb) [Download]

A step up from your basic PH meter. Worth the extra money for sure as it reads to 1/100. Very important if you need a really accurate pH reading for watering plants. Also, can swap the heads out for different types and if it ever goes bad you don;t need to buy the whole unit again, only the sensor. 10/10.
I can find almost nothing to criticize about this pH meter. The only thing I would recommend to the manufacturer-seller is a bit of instruction editing to make the drill more clear, especially for first-time users of a high quality instrument like this. For example, at 5.3 in the manual the instruction says to press a button to enter calibration mode. Then it goes on to say press another button to exit. Then it goes on to provide instruction about how to calibrate. This is confusing, because you don't want to exit until after you have calibrated. You figure that out pretty quickly if you have a brain, but it is frustrating just the same. Happy to help you rewrite to make it more clear if you'd like.

But the product is very well designed and gives very accurate and dependable readings, in stark contrast to products that purport to do the same for a lower price. Don't waste your time and money on those.

This is an instrument that appears to be made in China, and I must admit, I have a bias against many Chinese-manufactured items because of quality concerns. However, my experience with flashlights made by companies like Eagletac and several others has taught me that some Chinese companies make the highest quality flashlights on the planet. I think this pH meter is that kind of product.
After 2 cheap yellow pH pens, and 2 cheap continuous pH meters, this thing has finally worked for me. The auto calibration feature makes the calibration process very simple and less of a hassle. It comes with a small amount of everything you need for calibration and storage. The container that comes with this keeps everything together and secure, and comes with a laminated instruction card for calibration, usage, and storage.

I recommend purchasing extra storing solution (KCL), 4.0, 7.0, and 10.0 calibration solution. The amount of calibration solution that comes with this will last around 7-10 sloppy calibrations, but the amount of storing solution will only last for 2 refills (get extra just in case some is spilled).

If you are not absolutely confident with how to properly use and maintain one of the cheaper pH pens, I definitely recommend this product. The sensors have not dried out or become damaged, it has stayed calibrated through multiple uses, and the actual readings are spot on. (Just a guestimate, within about 0.05 of the correct pH.)
Comes with a nice tidy case. All the stuff you need to calibrate. No mixing needed!
So far I have had no issues and it reads PH quickly unlike cheap ones or ones that cost as much.
Nice product and well packaged with everything needed to get started. I will be using it for brewing.
This pen is great! Lots of great features that the cheaper pens can't compare with. Water proof, multi point calibration, replaceable sensor, and the quick pH and temperature readout. Plus the comfort of knowing that it is accurate and will tell you when it needs calibrated. And very easy when it comes to maintenance (and maintenance is very important). This pen is a must have for those who are relying on an accurate and quick pH meter!
Can't go wrong with Apera Instruments. Measurements coincide with much more expensive pH testers.
The Apera PH60 is a well thought out pH meter. I bought it as a backup reference for a much more expensive separate probe meter, by a very well known and respected company. It takes a bit of a learning curve to operate and calibrate smoothly, but the results are excellent. The more expensive meter only reads to 1/10 of a pH, while this one reads to 1/100 ths. It has proven to be extremely accurate. It may be more accurate than my high dollar meter. It is certainly more convenient, and compact. Very satisfied.
The carrying case is well thought out, with holes for standing the pen upright for the storage solution. Comes with everything needed, and the meter is pretty accurate with fast stabilization time. You can tell when the ph stabilizes with the smiley face icon. Calibration is also very easy, just hit the Cal button and dip in the 7.0ph solution provided, hit the Cal button again, then repeat with the 4.0 solution. A 3 point calibration can be done with a 10.0ph solution (not provided). I don't expect the ph prob to last forever, so I bought this because the probe is replaceable. Very happy with my purchase!
I had purchased one of the yellow ph metters when I first started growing basil in hydroponics. It really messed me up several times showing bad readings and causing me to change the ph the wrong direction. If the yellow ph wand was a bike, tgis new one is a sports car.

It really does the job. It comes with a testing kit and kind of auto calibrates. Its just cool. Dear company. Love the carring case and the cheat card that is in plastic. Very very cool. Very pro.
