I bought this pH tester for use in home cheesemaking. The introductory videos are extremely helpful. The case is well thought-out, allowing you to set the sample, the meter, and the buffer solutions upright while performing tests. Unlike the first pH tester that I bought this to replace, this unit's backlight stays on long enough to let the reading stabilize. The auto stabilization feature is an added bonus, with a simple 'thumbs-up' to indicate the reading has stabilized.
Works as defined (used in a brewery)
My background is as a lab scientist, and pH was always critical using meters costings $1,500 - $4,000. The main problems with meters are - accuracy and drift.

Use Case - we breed freshwater shrimp, so our conditions are freshwater with total dissolved solids of 200-250 and pH is important to shrimp breeding.

Accuracy - the only real way to test accuracy is from the calibration solutions - this little beauty was easy to calibrate and you test accuracy after calibration by switching from one test solution to another and look for consistency (to and from 7.00 and 4.00).

Drift - this is how stable the reading is - we adjust pH while having the meter in the solution - if it drifts, your reading is meaningless. This meter was very stable at constant pH and Temperature.

This is temperature compensated, but the temperature probe is very slow - give it time to reach a constant temperature reading before trusting the pH reading.
Do not try and read pH over more than 20-30 min before returning the probe to the KCl storage solution for at least 20 min - this will protect the probe and give more consistent readings (prolonged exposure outside the storage solution may degrade the probe).

Overall - it's a bunch of cash compared to the pen-type meters, but you may as well dip your finger into a solution and guess whether it feels acidic or alkaline as use a pen-type meter, so if pH matters - I would buy this one - had it for 4 months, take care of it and it will do the job.
Accurate and waterproof for a great price this thing is better than blue labs
I am using the meter to monitor pH in two planted aquariums. Having used similar pH meters and electronic testing tools in past as part of my job I can say I am impressed. If you follow the instructions and/ or view the video on Apera's website, the instrument is easy to calibrate. I verified my initial readings by chemical test. The Apera pH meter gives more consistent readings and is just as accurate as my most expense and precise chemical test. Note: and this is for all similar pH meters do not store it "dry."
Works great. Simple to use. I have already used it to check pH of my house tap water, as I was having a pH problem with my well water. I also use it for more accurate testing of my pool water and my 2 fresh water fish tanks. The potassium solution it comes with can be stored in the instrument's cap to keep the tip wet which is what the instructions recommend. It did take a couple of tries to get the calibration done properly but just need to follow the instructions. I keep a gallon of distilled water (purchased from any supermarket) around to rinse the tip before and after each sampling.
Recently purchased the PH60 glass bulb meter on Prime Day and have yet to do a stability test of the pH after calibration at all three points, has been one of many things I have wanted to do lately, but as of now I do really like this meter.

As a Ph.D student studying analytical chemistry, my primary use for this will be to monitor mash pH and pH of many homebrewed beers throughout the process, I did use it for a few trials and have had reproducible results a while after calibration while testing my tap and RO water system. I will be performing a long term test of calibration and will report back but this meter had all the features that were important to me in terms of homebrewing and others who also purchased the meters have reported on HBT forums that the uncertainty of the measurements is reported accurately by Apera.

The inclusion of buffer solution for storage and calibration solutions alongside the very well put together case makes this unbeatable at the price I got it for. A very good deal and a welcomed instrument
I use this to check my pool because it's hard for me to read the "shades of pink-purple" test. I went through a couple of the cheap testers and quickly discovered their flaws:

-Expensive button batteries. The auto-off doesn't always work. Apera uses AAAs.

-Won't hold their calibration. This Apera does and even comes with calibration solutions.

-Big accuracy swings. Being off by 4 tenths is too much for pool work. If the Apera is off by a mile it's just a few hundredths, which means it's still plenty accurate for pool work.

I store mine upright with the probe submerged in the soaking solution. It's ready to go all the time. Highly recommend.

After making my review of the product and saying how I felt about the marketing, I called the company. They have the BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE ever. I thought they would have been angry and rude with me for stating my true thoughts about the advertisement, but, instead, they took the time out to permit me to explain my reasoning. They may not have agreed with everything I said, but they listened to me and are willing to group discuss my concerns. I LOVE GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I finally have used the machine.... I LOVE IT!!!! It is the BEST that I have yet used... and I have about 6 machines that I have purchased for my clients four from this company--APERA. The reason that I have purchased four from this company is because they work so good that I wanted to see how the more costly machines work as well and provide my customers with the best options out their to assist them into improving their health. I also purchased them because I want to have a sample available of all the testers that I feel are great for their viewing in case they need to see the simplicity of the product before purchasing.

APERA--once you use their machines.... You will stay. I can vouch for that myself. They have great products and service as well. Thank you.

FIRST GRADE GIVEN: (based on the advertisement NOT product. For my feelings regarding the actual product, please read UPDATED GRADE)
I have purchased two APERA Meters. i own a pool cleaning business and this PH meter is easy to use and easy to calibrate. Comes in a nice case and has a strap that attaches to a belt loop. I would recommend this product. The only problem I have is I lost the plastic cap after two weeks. Be sure you snap it back on We also purchased one APERA PH/Salt /TDS meter a few months ago and it is still working great planning on ordering another for one of our employees.
