Nice unit but a bit difficult to calibrate
The product is well worth the money if you are looking for a "value" pH meter without spending 100's of dollars. This meter feels, looks, and operates like lab quality equipment. I am thoroughly glad I purchased this meter after being disappointed with other meters. Calibration and operation are super easy with well worded instructions. The ONLY knock on this meter kit is that it didn't come with 10.01 fluid for a 3 point calibration, even if it cost minimally more. That being said, I wouldn't take away any stars for it or let it dissuade me from purchasing again(if needed). Feel confident in purchasing this meter for home projects and basic pH measurements while knowing your measurement is accurate.
Purchased this tester for my home brewing. Can't be more happy about it. I have everything I need for an accurate pH test in its portable case (a very nice and sturdy one). I never have to make the buffer by my own using those powders. They are already prepared. The readings become stable pretty fast, in about 30 seconds. I can tell they come pre-calibrated, since it reads 7.05 and 3.96 in the ph 7 and 4 buffers.
I recently bought two cheap meters and they were a complete waste of money. They didn't give accurate readings at all. I am very happy with my Apera ph60. It is reliable, waterproof, You can adjust the backlight to Always be on, it came calibrated (I still calibrated myself), it comes in a nice box, it's also an ORP meter, and it gives very accurate readings for water. You definitely get what you pay for. It comes with buffer solutions ph7 and ph4, but I recommend you also buy your own extra buffer solutions like I did. It is perfect for my water ph test video I will be doing. Also you can get the liquid ph reagent off of Amazon as well. 5 stars Best of all is it reads Alkaline Water Accurately and Acidic water too!!
I purchased the Apera PH60 as the stated accuracy is +/-0.01 while most low cost testers have stated accuracy of only +/-0.1. The other concern is with acquisition time and ease of use. The Apera PH60 comes in a very nice storage container with calibration solutions and vials. It was relatively easy to setup but did require the instructions to be read. I ran through the calibration and then re-tested the meter against the calibration fluids with stable results. I then re-tested a few days later against the calibration solutions and the results were consistently good. Usability of the meter is good with a "smiley face" showing up once readings stabilize when taking a measurement, backlight is strong (but I wish it would stay on a little longer), and the meter being waterproof is a nice safety feature. Very happy with this meter. I just purchased the ORP probe for this meter too which I will be testing soon.
I had bought a less expensive pH tester and learned my lesson: you get what you pay for. I never even got to use it before it broke. The Apera PH60 is in a whole other ball game. For the price this unit is very nice. You get everything you need to start out (even the batteries) and I really like how it adapts to the temp of the liquid I'm measuring. The hard plastic case with foam inserts should keep the tester and supplies in good shape for years to come. And learning how to use the PH60 is no problem with the instructions that are in the case and the videos that are at Apera's website. One neat thing Apera does is include in the case along with the paper instructions are instructions on a laminated card so it can be taken out in damp environments and will not be destroyed. I would defiantly recommend the PH60 for easy pH testing.
We recently got a hot tub for our dog. I had no idea of how much care they take, and how hard it is to get all the chemicals just right. When I saw this I was really happy because it looked like one of my digital PH readers, but that it would be much more accurate.
I use pH meters on an almost daily basis in the lab in which I work, so I decided to to test the Apera pH60 meter against our laboratory Orion instruments benchtop pH meter. I calibrated both meters with the provided calibration solutions and then measured the pH of my field collected samples. The Apera meter was within 0.05 pH units of our Orion monitor, which is actually better than I expected. I was using filtered samples, so I haven't evaluated the Total Dissolved Solids function. It did accurately measure the samples' temperatures. The included lanyard is a great addition. I found that while wearing nitrile gloves, the meter was a little slick. I forsee the lanyard being a lifesaver in the field this fall when we go out to do cave research. I'll update on how it performs in the field. The storage cap can double as a sample container in a pinch, which reduces sample volume required for analysis. The meter shuts off if you drop it, just FYI, but it is resilient and continued plugging away when I turned it back on. You can set the pH meter to alarm if the pH falls outside a certain pH range. This may be a valuable added feature if you are measuring pool pH. All in all I think this is a great pH meter for the price point! I'm thrilled with my new field pH meter!
This pH meter is a great tool for a urinalysis lab! My experience with it was great. It is very user-friendly, unlike a lot of others that i used in graduate school. All I had to do is follow the instructions attached inside of the tool kit. It involves just a few steps to calibrate using pH=4, and pH=7 solutions Apera provides in the kit. Another advantage is the function of stablizing the pH values of a solution, so that it doesn’t drift like some other pH meters. I also tried the function of auto alarm, which means we can set up the range of pH, if the pH of analyte solution goes beyond, the screen will turn red and alert. The only drawback I can think of is it may take about 30-40mL of analyte solution for the glass electrode to fully immerse in a 100mL beaker. This may be too much for some experiments we do. I wish the manufacturer can provide us with a smaller cup to the tool. But again, for this price, I am pretty happy with it.
