Traditional Polarographic/Galvanic DO Probes vs. Optical DO Probes
Polarographic or Galvanic DO Probes | Optical DO Probes
Measurement | Consume oxygen during test — unstable readings. Users have to stir probes at a certain speed to get stable readings. | Adopts luminescent technologies. No oxygen being consumed during test — readings get stabilized quickly. |
Calibration | Serious polarization problem will occur, requiring frequent calibration | No polarization. No need to calibrate frequently. |
Maintenance | Need to replace membrane, replenish electrolytes, and clean cathodes and anodes | No electrolytes to replenish; No cathodes and anodes to clean. |
Performance | Slow response, poorer repeatability, lower accuracy | Fast response, good repeatability, high accuracy |
Lifetime | Short service life. Need to replace the membrane frequently. | The replaceable membrane cap's service life >8000 hours |
The Optical DO probe does not consume oxygen in the liquid, hence there is no requirement for water flowing speed. Just insert the probe in the liquid, and get the readings when it's stable -- as simple as measuring pH.
It takes only 1 to 3 minutes for reading to get fully stabilized. Frequent calibration is not necessary. Calibration only takes 1-2 minutes
Virtually No MaintenanceThere is no electrolytes to replenish; no cathodes and anodes to clean.
Dissolved Oxygen | Accuracy: ± 2 % of reading or ±0.2 ppm, whichever is greater Range: 0 - 20.00 ppm (mg/L); (0~200.0) % Response time: 90% in less than 30 seconds at 25˚C Temperature: Compensated 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) |
Temperature | Accuracy: ±0.5°C (±1.0°F) Range: 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) |
Operating Temperature | 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) |
Housing Materials | PPS, stainless steel, ABS (storage sleeve) |
Connector | 8-pin |
Measurement Technology | Luminescent optical dissolved oxygen |
Size of Sensor | 170*ø16mm |
Suitable Samples | General water solutions |
Non-suitable Samples | Strong acidic/alkaline water solutions, organic solutions |
We warrant this probe to be free from defects in material and workmanship and agree to repair or replace free of charge, at the option of APERA INSTRUMENTS, LLC, any malfunctioned or damaged product attributable to the responsibility of APERA INSTRUMENTS, LLC for a period of TWO YEARS from the delivery.
